【英訳練習】ギュレン運動に関する記事
ハフィントンポストの日本語記事を自分で英訳→記事の原文と比較する勉強法も英訳力増強に効果的かもしれませんね。次回以降の導入も積極的に検討していこうと思います（多分）。
今回はトルコのクーデター未遂事件に関する記事。
【語彙】
・attempt：動詞、名詞ともに可。
an act of trying to do something, especially something difficult, often with no success
企図、試み、敢行、トライ、日本語の「チャレンジ」に近いニュアンスか？
「失敗、未遂」の意味合いが強いため、fail toやin vain, unsuccessful等と互換性がよさそう

複合名詞化 coup attempt, attempted coup「クーデター未遂」
・cleric：宗教指導者、聖職者
・in exile：（状態・状況・環境のin）

・to blame：責任、責任者
・espouse：支持、擁護、信奉（名詞には教義やポリシー、信仰などが入る）

under：影響下（最中・状況・法律・支配）
・extradite：身柄の引き渡し
・once：一度〜すれば（条件）

・circumstantial evidence：状況証拠

try hard to get or achieve something
【コメント】
・appear toは「実際は違う、仮初めの」というニュアンスを出すには最適の表現ですね。名詞ならapparentを使えばいい。この語をはさむことでクーデター関与者が「偽ヒズメット信奉者」であると暗示することができます。

主節と従属節は同時進行ということでasでも可。「〜し、〜した」と事実を淡々と述べている場合は、asやwhen, whileがぴったりはまることが多い気がします。
・ここの「その関係は崩れた」の部分は “the honeymoon was over”とかだとかっこいいかも。
